In the name of god Amen This thirteene day of Aprill in the sixteenth yeare of the raigne of our soveraigne Lord Charles, by the grace of god, Of England, Scotland, France & Ireland King defender of the faith &c 1640 I Thomas Wright of Claxton als Longe Clauson in the Countie of Leceister, Clarke & vicar of Claxton aforesaid being sicke of bodie but of good & perfect memory praysed be god doe make & ordayne this my last will in manner & fourme followinge
In primis I bequeave my soule to almightie god that gave it, and my bodie to bee buried in the Chancell of the parishe Church of Claxton aforesaid
Itm I give to the poore of Claxton I meane to the poorest people of Claxton vs to bee equally divided
Itm I give to my mayed Katheryne Frost my old …
Itim I give to either of my sonnes John & Thomas Wright twentie shillings apeece, to be payed within twelve moneths next after my discease
Itm my will is, & soe I ordayne that my wife shall enioy my … according to equitie, & true meaning of … feofment And then it … to goe for ever unto my daughter Anne Wright & to her heires for ever, according to the true meaninge of her deed of the same
Itm my debts payed & legacies discharged, I give & bequeave unto my loveinge wife Dorothy Wright halfe my goods throughout, moveable & unmoveable equally to bee divided except 3 earthy lands & three … lands which I give to Anne Wright
The rest of all my goods unbequeaved I give & bequeave unto my forsaid loveinge daughter Anne Wright, whome I make sole & full executrixe of this my last will & testament, to see my bodie brought reverently to the ground, & my debts & Legacies discharged
Lastly I intreat Robert Hicklinge & Robert Wright yeomen of Claxton aforesaid to be overseers of this my last will & testament giving either of them for theire paynes twelve pence a peeece
