In the name of God amen March the 18th Anno Dom 1683 I Thomas Normanton the Elder of Grimston in the parish of Rothley in the County of Leic Webster being sicke & weaklye of bodie but of Good & perfect memorie (praised be the Lord for the same doe ordaine & make this my last Will & Testament in manner & forme following
First I bequeath my Soule to Allmighty God my Creator hopeinge & verely assuring myself through God his mercies & Christ his merits to be partaker of life everlasting & my bodie I bequeath to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in Christian burial at the discretion of my Executor in the Church yard of Grimston as aforesaid
And for my worldly Goods which it hath pleased the Lord to lend me I doe dispose of them in manner & forme following
First I give to my loveing Daughter Alice Normanton the best Cubbert & the bed which shee lyeth on and all the beding
Item I give to my loveing daughter Anne one Shillings her daughter Elizabeth one Shilling
Item I give to my loveinge daughter Elizabeth the best brasse pot & a flaxen Sheete & one Cow she paying twenty shillings to her Sister Alice
I give to my loveing Daughter Margerie the worst brass pot & her daughter Mary one Shilling
Item I give to my loveing Daughter Mary the Pied Heifer & Coffer which was her Mothers one yeare & a day after my death
Lastly I give to my loveing wife Elizabeth Normanton & my loveing Sonne Thomas Normanton whome I make Executors all the rest of my Goods undisposed They paying my legacies as I have bequeathed them & Debts if any be & funerall Charges
& Thus I make my last Will & Testament
