William Stokes of Wartnaby 1692 Will and Inventory

In the name of God amen the Third day of October and in the Third yeare of the raign of our Soveraigne Lord and Lady King William and Queene Mary I William Stokes of Wartnaby in the County of Leicester yeoman being sick and weake in body but of sound and perfect memory praised be God for the same and knowing the incertainety of Death doe make this my last Will and Testament in maner and forme following
In the first place I comend my Soule to Almighty God my Creator and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such decent and christian manner as my Executrix hereafter named shall think meet and convenient
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Eldest Son John Stoakes one Shilling
Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Robert Stoakes one Shilling
Item I give to my Son Thomas Lister one Shilling
Item I give to my son Thomas Write one Shilling
Item I give and bequeath unto my Third Sonne Richard Stoakes the said house wherein I doe dwell with the Cottage or Tenement adjoyning thereunto and alsoe the homsted and three Quarter of a yardeland and alsoe the Appurtenances and to his heirs and assignes forever after the decece of my beloved Wife Elizabeth Stoakes but in case the said Richard Stoakes should die without Issues of his Body Then I doe give and despose these said Two houses or Tenements with the Appurtenances to my fourt Sone Gorge Stoakes
Item I give to my Sone aforenamed Richard Stokes the Bed in the parler and a couberd and a chist
Item I give unto my Fourt Sone Gorge Stoakes one other Cottage or Tenement with the Ortchard thereunto belonging and tow cowe pastures and five Sheepe Commonds together with tow arrable lands in the field of Wartnaby aforesaid now or late in possession of William Camb to hould to him the said Gorge Stoakes and to his heires and assignes for ever And I doe alsoe give further to my Sone Gorge Stoakes forty pounds of legal English moneys due to me upon bond from my Sone Robert Stoakes lately made and all such Interest thereof as shall be remaining and unpaid to me at the time of my decease
Item I give to my Sone Gorge Stoakes the bed in the Chamber
Item I give to my daughter Mary Stoakes the Summ of Ten pounds to be paid when she shall attaine to the Age of one and twenty
Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Elizabeth Stoakes All those tow Messuages Cottages or Tenements and three Quarters of a yard land meadow and paster Ground and all other there appurtenances in Wartnaby whome I make my full and sole Executrix
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seale the day and yeare above written
