In the name of God Amen I Sarah Bardsey of Scalford in the Countye of Leicester widdow, being weake of body but of perfect memory & understanding (praised be God therefore) doe make & ordaine this my Last will & testament in maner & forme following
First I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God hopeing to bee saved onely by the merits & mediation of his son Jesus xt my saviour
My body I bequeath unto the earth from whence it was taken decently to be enterred in the Chancell on the south side of my dear husbands grave hoping for a joyfull resurrection
And for that worldly estate which God hath lent mee I dispose of it as followeth
First I give unto the poore of Scalford fourty shillings
Also I give unto the poore of Hickling in the Countye of Nottingham three pounds & my will is that both these sums shalbe payed & distributed amongst them within one month after my decease
Also I give & bequeath unto my nephew Cornewall Hampton & to his heires for ever the house I live in together with the homestead & all the appurtenances as they were purchased of John Fann; onely my will is that my executrix shall have one yeare in the sd house after my decease, & enjoy together with it all the appurtenances without any let or molestation from the sd Cornewall Hampton
Also I give unto the sd Cornewall Hampton all that portion or part of Impropriate tythes which I have in Hickling in the Countye of Nottingham which was purchased of one Mr John Duckitt I give it to him & to his heires for ever
Also I give unto Richard Frisbye of Grantham ten shillings to bee payed within one yeare after my decease
Also I give unto the daughter of my Cousin Fancott which was born to him by his first wife Elizabeth Bardsey the feather bed that was my mother Bardsey’s with the feather boulster & pillow & two blankets
Also I give & bequeath the perpetuall Advowson Patronage or presentation of & unto the Rectory of Hickling in the County of Nottingham unto Queens College in Cambridge, the Incumbent to bee alwaies nominated unto Queens College the Master & Fellows of that Society as in such cases it usually is accustomed
Also I give unto my Cousin John Hunt son to my … Elizabeth Hunt one sylver spoon double guilded
Also I give unto my Cousin Jeremiah Biggs twelve pence And twelve pence more to my Cousin Margarett Steward, And twelve pence more to my Cousin Godfrey Th… And twelve pence more to my Cousin Elizabeth Hunt
All the rest of my goods bills bonds debts dues & demands whatsoever I give & bequeath the same unto my Neice Sarah Fabian who now liveth with mee whom I likewise make full & sole Executrix of this my last will & testament, revoking all other wills whatsoever which I also publish the seventh day of May in the year of our Ld xt 1672
