In the name of God Amen I Thomas Hodskin of Scalford in the Countye of Leister being weake of body but of perfect memory & understanding praised bee God therefore doe make & ordaine this my last will & testament in maner & forme following
First I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God hoping to bee saved onely by the meritts of his son Jesus xt my body I bequeath unto the earth decently to bee interred hopeing for a joyfull resurrection
And for that worldly goods wch God hath lent mee I dispose of it as followeth
First I give unto my eldest son Willm Hodskin who is already married & provided for twelve pence
And to the other three of my children Alice & Joane & Joseph I give to each of them five shillings to bee paied them as they shall severally accomplish the age of one & twenty yeares
All the rest of my goods whatsoever the same shalbee I give & bequeath unto my loving wife Joane Hodskin out of the confidence that I have that shee will pay all my debts & bring up my children as it shall please God to inable her, whom I likewise make sole executrix of this my last will & testament published the seaventeenth day of October in the nine & twentieth yeare of the reigne of our Soveraigne Ld Charles the second King of England &c & in the yeare of our Ld xt 1677
