In the name of God Amen I John Hurst of Holwell in the Countie of Leicester yeoman considering with my selfe the certaintie of death & the uncertaintie of the time thereof and knowinge howe unfitt it is at the point of death to be troubled with worldly affaires doe now in my health & perfect memorie make & ordaine this my last will & Testament
First & above all thinges I bequeath my Soule into the handes of Almighty God my Creator, & of Jesus Christ my Redeemer & of the holie Ghost my Comfortor & my bodie to be buried in all comelie manner in the Church or Churchyarde of Abkettlebie
Item I give to the poore of Abkettlebie 3s 4d
Ite I give to the poore of Holwell 3s 4d
Ite I give to Isabell Hurst my wife & to Margerie Marriote my daughter all the Brasse & pewter except one little bason panne & one middle kettle & my will is that the longer liver of them shall inioye them all
Item I give to Margerie Marriot 2 Bedsteades in the parlour & one low bed in the Chamber & one Cubbard in the parlour & 3 Coffers 3 barrells 4 Tubbs 2 payre of hempton sheetes & one payre of harden one featherbed the worser 2 materesses 4 Coveringes 2 of them of the best & 2 of the middle most 4 pillowes 2 boulsters 4 kine 30 sheepe all these I give unto her to inioye during the time of her widowhood but if the said Margerie Mariott chance to marrie againe then my will is that her 2 younger sonnes Richard & Thomas shall enter & take all these aforesaid goods
Ite I give to Margerie Marriot 2 quarter of Barley halfe a quarter of Rye & a quarter & a halfe of pease
Ite I give to Marie Hurst 2 payre of sheetes one Coveringe one blanckett one matterisse & my will is that shee shall live with John Hurst my sonne after the decease of me & Isabell my wife whom I make my executor & he shall provide for her meate drinke apparel & Sufficient lodginge as is fit for her during the terme of her naturall life by the sight & iudgement of Samuel Neale & William Hurst But & if the said John Hurst or his executor shall refuse to keepe the said Marie then my will is that he or his executor shall pay to the said Marie Hurst 50l of good and lawfull mony of England
Ite I give to George Daft & Katherin his wife five yewes & five lambe hoggs & 3l 10s which is owinge to me
Ite I give to Willm Hubbard & Elizabeth his wife 40s he oweth me & 20s more
Ite I give to Marget Hurst one yewe & a hog
I leave to Isabel my wife all the rest of my goods during her naturall life & after her decease to returne to my executor
Ite I give to John Hurst my sonne one mare & a foale
Ite I leave as haireloomes one bedsted the white arke a payre of quornes a leade a Sheepfatt the horsetroffe the pumpe and irons kine standings & hovells
Ite I make John Hurst my sonne my executor of this my last will & Testament
I revoke all former wills & confirme this
