In the name of God amen the tennth day of [hole] Thousand six hundred eighty and five I Christopher Dexter of [hole] in the County of Leic and in the parish of Rothley yeoman being sicke [hole] but of good and perfect memory thanks be Given to Allmighty God and calling to remembrance the incertaine Estate of this transitorie life and that all must yeild unto death when it shall please God to call doe make ordaine constitute and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form followinge revokinge and adnullinge by these presents all and every Testament and Testaments Will and Wills heretofore by me made and declared either by word or by writinge and this to be taken only for my last Will and Testament
And first being penitent and sorry from the bottom of my heart for my Sinns past most humbly desireinge forgiveness for the same I committ my Soule to Almighty God my Saviouer and redeemer in whom and by the merittes of Jesus Christ I trust and beleve to be saved and to have full remistion and forgiveness of all my Sinnes and my body to be buried in such place whereat shall please my Executrix hereafter named to appoint and now for the Settlinge of my Temporall Estate and such Goods Chattells and Debts as it hath pleased God farr above my deserts to bestow upon me I do order give and dispose in manner and forme following (that is to say)
First I will that all those depts and duties I owe in right and conscience to any manner of person or persons whatsoever shall be well and truly contented and paid within convenient time after my decease by my executrix hereafter named
Itm I give and bequeath unto my Eldest Son Robert Dexter fourscore pounds of lawfull moneys of England and to be paid unto him in manner and form following that is to say upon the five and twentyth day of March next ensuing the date hereof the Sum of Fourty pounds thereof and upon the four and twentyth day of March next after the first payment the Sum of Fourty pounds residue thereof to be paid to the said Robert Dexter
Itm I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Chrischanas [sic] Dexter fifty pounds to be paid unto her when shee attaine to the severall age of one and twenty yeares And if it shall happen that any of my Children dye that then my will is the portion allotted shall be equally divided amongst the Longest livers
Item I leave all the rest of my Goods moveable and unmoveable unto my wife Elizabeth Dexter and my yongest son Christopher Dexter whom I nominate and appoint to be my sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament
