In the Name of God Amen I Edmund Bardsey of Scalford in the County of Leicester Doctor of Divinitye being Sickly in bodye but of good and perfect memorie (god bee praysed therefore) doe make this my last will and Testament dated the second daye of February in the yeare of our Lord God one Thousand six hundred Fiftie and one In manner & forme followinge vizt
First I bequeath my Soule into the handes of god hopeinge assuredly throughe the merritts of Jesus my Saviour to bee partaker of life eterenall
My body I give to the Earth from whence it was taken & to be decently interred (according to the Discrecond of my Executrix) in the Chancell of Scalford
And for the Worldly Estate which God hath bestowed uppon me I Doe dispose of it thus
The perpetuall Advowson or patronage of the parish Church of Hiclinge in the County of Nottingham I doe hereby give the same unto my well beloved wife Sarah Bardsey and to her heyres and Assignes forever
Item I give unto the sayd Sarah Bardsey the impropriate porcon of Tythes or Tenthes growinge and Cominge out of sixteene Oxeganges of Lands in Hicklinge aforesaid sometimes heretofore belonging to the Monastery of Thurgaton in the County of Nottingham which came to mee by way of purchase from Master John Inckett [?, possibly a miscopying of Trickett] Esquier I give the same unto the said Sarah Bardsey and to her heires & Assignes for ever
Item I doe hereby give unto the said Sarah Bardsey all my other worldly goodes and personall Estate Debts Dues and rights or whatsoever the Same shall bee unto her the sayd Sarah Bardsey and to her heirs and assignes for ever my Funerall Charges beinge first defrayed and payed and Some other Debtes which I have a desire should bee payed out of my Estate which I have acquainted her withall
And I doe hereby constitute & make the sayd Sarah Bardsey the Sole Executrix of this my will and last testament revokeinge all other Willes whatsoever desireinge her with what Care shee canne to see it performed (if the parties canne bee found out to whom the debts doe belonge as I thinke they may or some of their friends
In witnesse whereof I have hereunto putt my hand and Seale the day and yeare above wrytten

This Will was proved at Westminster the Tenth day of the moneth of June in the yeare of our Lord God Accordinge to the Computacon of the Church of England One Thousand six hundred fiftye and Foure before the Judges for probate of Willes and graunting Administratcons by the Oath of Sarah Bardsey the Relicte and Sole Executrix in the same Will named To whome was Committed Administracon of all and singuler the goods Chattles and debtes of the Sayd Deceased Shee being first sworne by virtue of a Commission truely to Administer the Same
