In the name of god Amen I Richarde Hicklinge of Claxton als longe Clauston in the Countie of Leceister yeoman beinge sicke in bodie but of good & perfect memorye (praysed be god) this eight daye of Januarye, in the tenth yeare of the raygne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles, by the grace of god, of England, Scotland, France & Ireland King defender of the faith &c Doe make & ordayne this my last will & testament in manner & forme followeinge
First I give and bequeathe my soule to god that gave it mee and my bodie to be buried in the Church yarde of Claxton als Clauston aforesaide
Itim I give to the poore of Claxton als Clauston aforesaide sixe shillinges & eight pence to bee distributed at the discretion of the minister of Claxton & overseers of this my last will & testament.
Itim I give to my loveinge wife Marye Hicklinge twentie shillinges per Annum & to be payed yearely at severall quarter dayes and sufficient diet with wholesome washeinge, all which is to be performed by my Executor Richard Hickling my sonne and heire
I further give unto my wife Marye Hicklinge her Chest with the Lynnens therein and also towe pueter dishes & the best brasse Candle sticke which usually stands & be uppon the Cubberds head in the parlour
I likewise give her sufficient furniture for a bed, Provided alwayes, that if my sonne Richard Hickling and my wife Marye Hicklinge Cannot agree to live together That then she shall have foure pounds payed her yearly by my said sonne Richard & take her diet where she pleaseth
Itim I give unto Anne Sonsame the wife of William Sonsum of Peakirke in the Countie of Northampton, husbandman, five pounds of lawfull money of Englande, to bee payed within twelve moneths, next after my discease If shee bee then liveinge
Itim I give unto my daughter Margarett Knott a Cowe Calfe
Itim I give unto everye one of my grand Children as to William Knot, Richard Knott, Thomas Knott, & Marye Hicklinge, and also to Richard Guye, my god sonne, a Lambe, at Michaelmas next after my discease
The rest of all my goods moveable & unmoveable, unbequeathed, I give and bequeathe, unto my sonne Richarde Hicklinge, whome I make & ordayne soule executor of this my last will & testament to see the same performed, my debts payed, and my bodie brought reverently to the ground
Lastely, I make my brother Robert Hickling, & my sonne in lawe Robert Knott, overseers of this my last will & testament, giveinge to either of their twelve pence for theire paynes
