In the name of God Amen I John Caunte of Hicklinge in the County of Nottingham Labourer upon the seaventeenth day of September in the yeare of our Lord God (according to the computacon here in England) one Thousand six hundred sixty & nine Being weakely & sicke in body But of good and perfecte memory God be praised therefore doe make & ordaine this my Laste will & Testamte in maner & forme followeing that is to say
Firste I give & bequeathe my soule to Allmighty God my creator & maker hopeing assuredly through his mercy and the all sufficiency of Jesus Christe’s meritts my onely Saviour & Redeemer to be partaker of life everlasteing And my body I sett & bequeath to the earth from whence it was taken To be buried in Christiall [sic] buriall in the parish Church yard of Hicklinge aforesd And for my worldly goods wherewith the Lord of his infinite mercy hath endowed me I doe hereby dispose of them in maner and forme following That is to say
Firste I doe give and bequeath to my sonne Thomas Caunte twelve pence
Item I give and bequeath to my sonne George Caunte twelve pence
And all the rest of my goods unbequeathed all my Debts Legacies and funerall charges being first discharged and defrayed I doe hereby give and bequeath them all wholely and solely to my said executrix Dorothy my loveing wife and Dorothy Caunte my daughter whom I doe now make constitute and ordaine and apoynte by these presents to be executrixes of this my Last will & testamente
And soe revokeing all other former wills and Testamts whatsoever by me made I doe now make constitute & ordaine this to be my Laste will and Testament
In witnes whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale in the one & Twentieth yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles the second by the grace of God Kinge of England Scotland France and Ireland Defender of the faith & the day above said
