George Hopkins of Nether Broughton 1866 Will

This is the last Will & Testament of me George Hopkins of Nether Broughton in the county of Leicester Grazier as follows (that is to say)
I Give devise & bequeath my Real property my House & land in Nether Broughton to my eldest Son Edward on condition that all my just debts & the expenses of proving this Will & my funeral expenses be paid by him out of the real estate as soon as may be convenient that is to say within the year after my decease
And with respect to my personal property I Give & bequeath my aforesaid Eldest Son Edward all the live stock upon the land with the implements pertaining thereto viz two carts & the barn implements for his sole & separate use and with respect to my Furniture I give & bequeath to my second Son William a chest and bed with the furniture & bedding complete & to John my third Son I Give and bequeath a set of drawers & bed with the furniture complete and to my daughter Mary a chest of drawers bed & furniture complete
And I further will & bequeath to my eldest daughter Rebecca the Wife of George Michell of Linby Nottinghamshire the sum of ten pounds & to my second daughter Mary the sum of thirty pounds and to my second son William the sum of nineteen Guineas & to my Son John the sum of nineteen Guineas all which legacies must be paid by my Eldest Son Edward out of the Real Estate as well as the debts funeral expenses and expenses of proving this Will as before mentioned
And I hereby constitute and appoint my eldest Son Edward the sole Executor of this my Will & Testament
In Witness whereof I the said George Hopkins the Testator have hereunto set my hand & seal this thirteenth day of June in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred & sixty five

In Her Majesty’s Court of Probate The District Registry at Leicester In the Goods of George Hopkins deceased
I Joseph Green of Nether Broughton in the county of Leicester Miller make oath that I am one of the subscribing Witnesses to the Codicil to the last Will and Testament of George Hopkins late of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester Grazier deceased the said Codicil being now hereunto annexed and bearing no date and that the said Testator executed the said Codicil on the 13th day of June 1865 by making his mark at the foot or end thereof as the same now appears thereon in the presence of me and of Thomas Greaves the other subscribed witness thereto both of us being present at the same time and we thereupon attested and subscribed the said Codicil in the presence of the said Testator And I lastly make oath that the said Codicil was read over to the said Testator in my presence previously to its execution and he seemed perfectly to understand the same

Proved at Leicester with a Codicil the twentieth day of April 1866 by the oath of Edward Hopkins Son of the deceased the Sole Executor named in the Will to whom Administration was granted
The Testator George Hopkins was late of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester Grazier and died on the twelfth day of October 1865 at Nether Broughton aforesaid
