Thomas Lamin of Harby 1718 Will and Inventory

In the name of God Amen I Thomas Laming of Harby in the County of Leicester Yeom being of sound and perfect health mind & memory (Praised be God therefore) but considering the frailty of humane nature & the uncertainty of death & being desirous to settle things in order to Prevent as much as in me lyes all Disputes that may arise touching the distribution of my Estate Doe make and ordaine this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say
First I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God hopeing through the meritts of my Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ to have Remission of my Sins And my body to the Earth to be decently interred att the discretion of my Executor hereafter named
And as for that worldly Estate which it hath pleased God in his mercy to bestow upon me (after my Debts & Funerall expenses paid and discharged) I give and dispose thereof as followeth viz
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Cozen Thomas Laming Son of my Nephew Thomas Laming of Saxondale in the Parish of Shelford in the County of Nottingham All that my Messuage Farme or Tenement with the appurtenances & the land thereunto belonging scituate lyeing and being in Harby aforesaid now in my tenure or occupation to hold to him & his heires for ever from & after my decease & the decease of my loveing wife Bridgett Lamming & the decease of the longer liver of us he the said Thomas Laming the Son & his heires paying yearly & every year after my decease unto the Churchwardens & Overseers of the poor of the Parish of Harby aforesaid the sume of five shillings to be distributed amongst the poor of the said Parish by the said Churchwardens & Overseers for the time being upon St Thomas day for ever
Item I give & bequeath unto my said Cozen Thomas Laming the leaden Cistern & all other Implements and Utensills whatsoever belonging to my Malting Office and alsoe the Dresser board and Cupboard in the house where I now dwell & three such Beds in the said house as my said Cozen Thomas Laming shall chuse
Item I give & bequeath unto my Nephew John Laming & his heires for ever All that my Cottage or Tenement with the appurtenances in Harby aforesaid now in the possession of William Hand
Item I give & bequeath unto my Kinswoman Mary Jervis the sume of five pounds of lawfull money of Great Britaine to be paid unto her by my Executors hereafter named within one year after my decease
Item I give & bequeath unto William Laming and Fortune Laming Son and Daughter of my said Nephew Thomas Laming twenty pounds apeice of good and lawfull money of Great Britaine to be paid unto each of them by my Executors hereafter named within twelve Moneths after my decease
All the rest and residue of my Goods Chattels and personall Estate (after my Debts Legacyes & Funerall Expences paid and discharged) I give and bequeath unto my said loving wife Bridgett Laming and my said Nephew Thomas Laming whom I make constitute & appoint joynt Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revokeing & making void all former & other Wills by me att any time heretofore made
In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & Seale the seventeenth day of June in the third year of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord George by the grace of God of Great Britaine France & Ireland King Defender of the Faith & Anno Dni 1717
