This is the last Will & Testament of Edward Anderson Clerk Rector of Hickling Notts
I give & bequeath to my beloved Wife Anne Anderson the whole of my furniture my family bible in two vols 4to & the choice of any number of my books the remainder of my books I desire may be divided equally between my three dear children
I give to my dear daughter Katharine Fleming Anderson my silver cup with two handles
I give to my dear Son William Paley Anderson my silver tankard also my gold watch & my salmon ring
I give to my dear daughter Jane Anne Anderson my silver tea pot which belonged to my late dead sister
All the monies of which I may be possessed or which may be due to me at the time of my death I leave to my dear Wife aforesaid upon trust for the following uses
First I request her to pay all my lawful debts funeral and testamentary expences
Next I desire her to purchase two annuities one of ten pounds per ann for my dear Anne Lacy of Penrith & the other of five pounds per ann for Mrs Stewart of Great Salkeld Cumberland during the term of their natural lives in Government securities
Lastly I request my dear Wife to transfer the residue of my personal Estate to the two trustees of her own fortune William Priestley Esqr and Thomas Henry Graham Esqr for her own sole use during the term of her natural life & then for the use of my three dear children share & share alike their heirs administrators and assigns
I also hereby constitute & appoint my beloved Wife Anne Anderson aforesaid aforesaid to be the sole Executrix of this my last Will & Testament in token whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this sixteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty

The three Cottages in Hickling which I have lately purchased I desire to be sold & the produce of the sale to be transferred by my Executrix to the residue of my personal Estate

Appeared Personally Alice Hicks of Hickling in the County of Nottingham Spinster and made Oath that she is one of the subscribed Witnesses to the last Will and Testament and Codicil annexed of The Reverend Edward Anderson late of Hickling aforesaid Clerk deceased which Will and Codicil is hereunto annexed and bears date as follows the Will sixteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty one and she further made Oath that on the said sixteenth day of June the said Edward Anderson executed his said Will by writing his name at the foot or end thereof in the presence of this deponent and of Elizabeth Elliott and John Holmes the other subscribed Witnesses thereto and that this deponent and the said Elizabeth Elliott subscribed their names to the said Will in the presence of the said Testator and of each other and also that this deponent and the said Elizabeth Elliott and John Holmes subscribed their names to the said Codicil in the presence of the said deceased and of each other

The Will with a Codicil thereto of The Reverend Edward Anderson late of Hickling in the County of Nottingham Clerk deceased was proved at York the 22nd day of April in the year of our Lord 1843 before the Reverend Robert White Almond Clerk Surrogate of The Right Worshipful Granville Harcourt Vernon Master of Arts Commissary and Keeper General of the Exchequer and Prerogative Court of York lawfully constituted by the Oath of Anne Anderson Widow the Relict the sole Executrix therein named to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased she having been first sworn duly to administer
