This is the last Will and Testament of me Edward Charles of Old Dalby in the County of Leicester Farmer
I give devise and bequeath all those my several Closes pieces or parcels of land or ground inclosed situate and being at Old Dalby aforesaid in my own occupation and all other my real estate and also all my household goods and furniture plate linen china monies securities for money farming stock and implements in husbandry and all other my Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever with the respective appurtenances to the same belonging (except the bedstead bed and bedding on which I sleep and the furniture thereto belonging) unto and to the use of my son John Charles his heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever subject nevertheless and I do hereby charge and make chargeable the same with the payment of all my just debts funeral and testamentary charges and expences the expences of proving this my Will and the several legacies or sums of ten pounds a piece unto each of my other children namely Sarah Hardin Mary Allsopp Edward Charles William Charles Elizabeth Rippon Ann Charles and Frances Whitman all which said legacies I give and bequeath to them my said children and direct the same to be paid by my said Son John twelve months next after my decease without interest for the same in the meantime
I give and bequeath my said bedstead bed and bedding on which I sleep and the furniture thereto belonging unto my said daughter Ann absolutely
Lastly I nominate and appoint my said son John sole Executor of this which I declare to be my last Will and Testament and hereby revoke all other Wills by me made
In testimony whereof I the said Edward Charles (the Testator) have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine

The above written last Will and Testament of the above named Testator Edward Charles was signed and sealed by him at the foot or end thereof in the presence of us being all present at the same time who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our Names as witnesses
