In the name of God Amen I George Dixon of Stathorne in the County of Leicester Husbandman beeinge of perfect and Disposseing memory praised bee God for it doe make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I Commend and resine my soule into the handes of Almighty God Creator and maker and to Jesus my redeemer hopeing to bee saved by his merrits onely and my body to bee buried in the Church yard of Stathorne with assured hope of a Joyfull resurrection at the last day And for my Temporall estate which it hath pleased God to Bless me with I devise and dispose as followeth and is expressed hereafter
Itemm I give unto my Cozen George Dixon one halfe oxgang of land belonging to the house I dwell in to him and his heires for ever payeing to the poore of Stathorne upon the first day of May next after my decease the sum of five shillings and soe to Continue to paye the like sume of five shillings on the first day of May yearly and every yeare for ever
Item I give unto Jane Wayne the wife of Thomas Wayne another halfe oxgang of land belonging to my house to her and her heires for ever payeing to the poore of Stathorne upon the first day of August the sum of … shillings next after my decease and soe to Continue the like … forever … payment on that day yearely and every yeare forever
Item I Give unto Frances Rouse the Wife of William Rouse the other half oxgange of land which did belong unto the above named house to her and her heires for ever payeing to the use of the poore of Stathorne five shillings upon the Nine and Twenteeth day of September next after my decease and soe to Continue the like sum and payment on that day yearly and every yeare for ever
Further my will is that every one halfe oxgange shall pay there part of Cheese rent which will bee two shilling five pence apeice
Item I give unto Richard Guy sonne of Elizabeth Guy my oxgange of land which I bought of Mantel to him and his heires for ever payeing to the poore of Stathorne upon the eleveant day of November next after my decease Twenty shillings and soe to Continue the like sum and payement on that day yearly and every yeare for ever and the Cheese rent there to belonging and paye to William Gibbin sonne of William Gibbin Eight pounds of currant English money upon that day the second yeare after my decease And to paye to Mary Gibbin the daughter of William Gibbin fourteene pounds of good and lawfull English money on that day three yeares after my decease And to paye to his Sister Margett Guy Tenn pounds of like lawfull money on that day the fourth yeare after my decease And to paye to his Sister Elizabeth Guy Tenn pounds of lawfull English money on that day the fift yeare after my decease And to paye to this brother Andrew Guy Twenty shillings on that day
Item I give unto George Whatmore Sonne of Elizabeth Barnes my Dwellinghouse barnes and orchyard and all other houses and ground theireto belonging to him and his heires forever payeing his parte which is two shillings
Item I give to Mary Whatmore my little Close adoyneing on Willam Barkes yard to her and her heires for ever shee payeing sixe pence for her part of Cheese rent
Item I give to my Cozen Elizabeth Barnes the wife of Nicholas Barnes five pounds
Item I give unto my Cozen Frances Strong the wife of John Strong sixteene pounds
Item I give unto my Cozen Brigitt the wife of Richard Burgis fifteen pounds
Item I give unto my Cozen Richard Marriot of London fifteene pounds
Item I give unto my Cozen Jane Tring of London widdow fifteene pounds
Item I give unto Elizabeth Wilson wife of William Wilson of Nuton fourteene pounds
Item I give Cozen Jane Wayne my table and form in the parlour my Coverlid of red and Greene the best blanket one pillow and boulster and paire of hempin sheets and the ioyned Chaire in the house and all the rest of my beding and bedsteds and puter and brasse which I have not disposed of or given away before my decease my will is that my Cozen Frances Rouse and my Cozen Jane Wayne have them all devided equally betwixt them
Item I give unto my sister Simson five shillings as a token of my love unto her
Item I give unto my man servant George Brewster Twenty shillings and fourteene shillings that I owe to him and three quarter of his yeares wages due att Martelmas
Item give to my servant John Brewster Twenty shillings and five shillings of wages besides his half … due att Martelmas
Item I give unto my maid servant Anne Whittel Twenty shillinges
Item I give unto John Bell one ewe and lamme
Item I give to Mary Henson one hive of bees
Item I give unto my brother John Dixon tenn shillings and to my brother Richard Guy tenne shillings who I make my sole executors of this my last will and testament who I desire to make saile of goods and my legacies and to paye themselves for theire paines and to distribit the over plus as the shall think fitting to them of my kinsfolke who have noe parte of my land
In witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the first day of August in the yeare of our Lord Anno Domini 1675
