In the Name of God Amen October the first Ao Dom 1648 I John Fawkes of Claxton alis Longe Clawson in the County of Leicester Husbandman beinge weake of Body but of good and perfect memory (praised be God therefore) doe ordaine this my Last Will & Testament in manner & form following that is to say
First I bequeath my Soule to Allmighty God my Creator hopeing & verily assuringe my selfe through … his mercies and the all sufficient Merits of Jesus Christ my only Savour & Redeemer to be partaker of Life everlastinge
And my Body I bequeath to the Earth from whence it was taken to be buryed in Christian buriall in the Churchyard of Claxton at the discretion of my Executor & Executrix & for my worldly Goods which it hath pleased God to endow me with I doe despose of them in manner & forme followinge that is to say
Imprimis I give unto my Loveing Daughter Isabel Fawkes three score Pounds to be payd by my Executor & Executrix a quarter of a yeare after my decease, Allsoe I give her a trusse bed
Item I give unto the Children of my Loveinge Sonne Edward Fawlks & to the Children of my Loveinge Sonne in Law Thomas Cooke all my sheepe to be equally divided halfe to the Children of my aforesaid Sonne Edward Fawkes & the other halfe to the Children of my aforesaid Sonne Thomas Cooke to to be given to them by my Executor & Executrix
Item I give unto my Loveinge Sonne in Law Thomas Cooke twenty shillings to be payd a yeare after my decease by my Executor & Executrix
Item I give unto my Loveinge Daughter Joane Cooke twenty shillings to be payd a yeare after my decease to be payd by my Executor & Executrix
Item I give unto the poore of Claxton aforesaid five shillings to be payd to them by me Executor & Executrix
Item it is my will that accordinge to former Covenants … be …ed to my Loveinge Sonne Edward Fawkes & besids I give him twenty shillings to be payd to him by my Executor & Executrix
Item I give unto my Loveinge Daughter Mary Fawkes five shillings to be payd to her by my Executor and Executrix
Item I doe constitute appoint & ordaine my Loveinge Sonne Robert Fawkes to be the Executor & my Loveinge wife Elizabeth Fawkes to be the Executrix joyntly together of this my Last Will & Testament to …
I give the halfe of my moveable Goods the Legacies above mentioned beinge first payd by them to whom I have given them & remainder to be equally devided amongst them & Let them devide them when either of them pleaseth my Debts and funerall Charges beinge first defrayed & defaulted
Thus revockinge all former Wills … … I doe constitute & apoint this to be my Last Will & Testament wittnesse my hand & Seale heere unto put the day & yeare above written
