John Goodman of Nether Broughton 1767 Will

In the name of God Amen I John Goodman in Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester being weak in Body, but of a Sound and perfect Memory (thanks be to God for it) I do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say
Principally, and first I recomend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it, and my Body I commit to the Earth to be Buryed in a Desent manner nothing Doubting but at the Resurection I shall receive the same again
And as for my worldly Effects wherewith it hath pleased god to Bless me, I do give bequeath and Dispose of the Same as followeth
First I give and bequeath unto my Son John Goodman the Sum of five pounds to be paid by my Executor herein after named
Also I give and bequeath unto my Son Joseph Goodman the Sum of Ten pounds, to be paid by my Executor after named
Also I give to my Son Joseph my Chest
Also I give and bequeath unto my son William Goodman the Sum of Ten pounds to be paid by my Executor after named
Also I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Barns the Sum of five pounds to be paid by my Executor after named
All the rest of my Goods and Personal Estate whatsoever I do give unto my Son Thomas Goodman Whom I do make & ordain my only and Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament
In Wittness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Twenty Seventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Sixty seven and in the Seventh year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third and so forth
