In the Name of God Amen The Seventeenth day of November in the year of our Lord 1698 I John Gresely of Wartnaby in the County of Leicester Shepherd, being very sick & weak of body, but of perfect mind & memory (thanks be to God) do make & ordain this my last will & testament in manner & form following
First I recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it, & for my body I commend it to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix
And as for my worldly goods I give & dispose of them in the following manner
Imprimis I do will & bequeath to my eldest Son John Gresely the Summ of five pounds & an old chest left me by my father
Item I give to my younger Son Peter Gresely the Summ of five pounds both which Summs are to be paid when they shall attain the age of one & twenty
Item I do bequeath to my Son John above named two Ews the one going in Abkettleby field the other in Wartnaby
Item I give all my other goods & chattels to my wife Ann Gresely whom I constitute & appoint Sole Executrix of this my last will & testament
