In the Name of God Amen I Bartholomew Holmes of Eaton in the County of Leicester Sheepherd being weak of Body but of disposing mind and memory, praised be God therefore do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in the following Manner and Form
First of all I give and bequeath my Immortal Soul into the Hands of Almighty God Hoping thro’ the Death and passion of my Blessed Redeemer to be joyfully rec’d at my Resurrection and my Body to be decently Buried in the Parish Churchyard of Eaton aforesaid at the Expences of Executrix hereafter mentioned
And as for my Worldly Goods I give and bequeath in manner and Form following
First I give to my sister Mary the Wife of George Belks of Flintham in the County of Nottingham the Sum of one Shilling
Also I give to my Brother Richard Holmes of Radford near the Town of Nottingham the Sum of one Shilling
Also I give to my Son in Law John Beet the Sum of one Shilling
My Debts my Legacies and Funeral Expences being first duely paid and discharged then all the rest of my Goods Cattles Chattles and personal Estate unbequeath’d I give and bequeath unto Christian my Loving Wife making her full Sole and only Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament utterly revoking and making void all former Wills in any Wise heretofore made by me
In Witness whereof the Testator has set his Hand and Seal this 25th Day of January in the year of our Lord 1747/8
