In the name of God Amen the two and Twenteth day of September 1727 according to the Computation of the Church of England I John Holwell of Grimston in the County of Lester Talor Doe make and ordane this my Last will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I Bequeath my soul to the hands of allmighty God my maker [“hoping” missing] that through the Meritorious Death and Passion of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer to Recive free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and ass for my Body to be Buried in A Christian Buriall att the Decretion of my Executrix here after nominated
Impremis I Give to my Son John Holwell the sum of one shiling
Item I Give to my Daughter Meary Holwell the sum of one shiling
Item I Give to my Daughter in Law Mellecent Croos [sic, John Holwell married Frances Cross widow at Grimston 18 October 1705] the sum of one shiling
And all the Rest of my Goods and Chattells I give unto my wife Frances Holwell upon Condittion that shee shall pay all my Debts and Legacies and Buriel Charges
I do mak her my Sole Executrix of this my Last will and Testment and utter Revoke all former wills that hath Been by me made
In wittness whereof I here unto have set my hand and Seale the day and yeare above written
