Richard Hourd of Hose 1812 Will

In the name of God Amen This is the last Will and Testament of me Richard Hourd the elder of Hose in the County of Leicester Grazier
First I give and bequeath to my Daughters Alice Gibson Elizabeth Hardy and Ann Hourd the sum of sixty pounds apiece and I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Hourd the sum of seventy pounds my Wifes Silver tea Spoons, tea Board and China and my Bed, Bed furniture and all my other furniture usually used in my Parlour and my Chest of Drawers except my Bureau
Also I give and bequeath to my said Daughter Ann Hourd my Chest of Drawers, my bed, Bed furniture and all my other furniture usually used in my best Chamber
Also I give and bequeath to my son Matthew Hourd the sum of eighty pounds and my tenant right (as undertenant only) to my son Richard Hourd to my far Meadow Close (which is now in my said son Matthew Hourds occupation) and to my Town Side Close containing ten Acres ten perches to commence at and from the first Lady Day (Old Style) after my decease both which I now rent of His Grace the Duke of Rutland and I humbly request that the said Duke will permit and my said son Richard Hourd will quietly suffer my said son Matthew Hourd to occupy them as under tenant to my said son Richard Hourd so long as he my said son Matthew Hourd shall occupy the said two Closes in an Husbandlike manner and shall well and truly pay all manner of parochial and other Rates which shall be charged and chargeable on the same And shall well quietly and truly pay or cause to be paid to my said son Richard Hourd such a Rent by even half yearly payments as the same becomes due as shall at all times be fully equal to two seventh parts of the Rent which His said Grace the Duke of Rutland shall at all times after my decease charge for the Rent of the whole Farm and Hereditaments which I now rent of him
Also I give and bequeath to my son William Hourd the sum of one hundred and ten pounds
And I give and devise All my Close or piece of Land lying and being in the Lordship of Hose aforesaid now in the occupation of my son Matthew Hourd unto my said son Richard Hourd and his Heirs and Assigns forever Subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the true payment of all the money which I shall owe on the same on Mortgage or for which it shall be mortgaged at the time of my decease
Also I give and bequeath to my said son Richard Hourd All the tenant right to all my said Farm Subject nevertheless to Bequest hereinbefore made of the two Closes to my said son Matthew Hourd as beforementioned
And all the Residue and Remainder of my Goods Chattels Cattle Implements in Husbandry ready money and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever which I shall die possessed of I give and bequeath to my said son Richard Hourd Subject to the payment of all my just Debts not herein otherwise directed to be paid Also to the payment of all the Legacies herein by me given and bequeathed and my Funeral and Testamentary expences and to the maintenance and education of my said Daughter Mary Hourd suitable to her station in Life until she shall attain to her Age of eighteen and I hereby will and direct that my Executor hereinafter named shall pay in my said Daughter Mary Hourd interest for the Legacy herein given to her as it becomes due after the Rate of five per Centum per Annum for her own use during her Minority
Lastly I do hereby make and ordain my said son Richard Hourd whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made ratifying and declaring this and none other to be my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I the said Richard Hourd the Testator have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twentieth day of March in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and eleven

Signed sealed published and declared by the within named Richard Hourd the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our Names as Witnesses to the due Execution thereof, having first observed that the word “of my said Daughter Mary Hourd” were interlined and also “except my Bureau” were interlined

Let a probat be granted to Richard Hourd of Hose in the County of Leicester Grazier sole Executor within named the said Richard Hourd being duly sworn as well to the faithful Execution of the Will as that the Testator’s Goods, Chattels, & Credits do not amount in value to the Sum of Six hundred pounds
