Ann Hurst of Holwell 1775 Will

In the Name of God Amen This is the Last Will and Testament of me Ann Hurst of Holwell in the County of Leicester Spinster
First I Do hereby order and direct that all my Just Debts and funeral expenses shall be paid and satisfyed and subject thereto I do give and dispose of my personal estate and effects in manner following (that is to say)
I Give and Bequeath unto my Great Nephew the Reverend John Cant the Sum of three hundred pounds part whereof he the said John Cant doth now stand indebted to me upon Bond and Note and which I do hereby order and direct he shall keep in his hands towards satisfaction of such Legacy of three hundred pounds And I also Give and Bequeath unto the said John Cant all such Interest as he shall owe or stand indebted unto me at the time of my Death
I Give and Bequeath unto my Great Niece Mary Partridge Sister of the said John Cant the sum of three hundred pounds in case she shall happen to be living at the time of my Decease but if Dead then I Give and Bequeath the said Legacy or Sum of three hundred pounds unto her Child or Children to be equally divided among them share and share alike if more than one and if but one then wholly to such only or surviving Child
I Give and Bequeath unto my two Great Nieces Elizabeth Lowdham and Catherine Andrews two other of the Sisters of the said John Cant the sum of three hundred pounds a Piece
I Give and Bequeath unto my Niece Susannah Wilson Widow Two hundred pounds And I Give and Bequeath unto William Robinson the Elder of Coston in the said County of Leicester Grazier One hundred pounds and to William Robinson the younger of Ashwell in the County of Rutland Grazier Son of the said William Robinson the elder by my Niece Elizabeth his late Wife deceased the sum of two hundred pounds to be detained by them and to be in full discharge of the principal sum of three hundred pounds which they the said William Robinson the elder and William Robinson the younger do now owe and stand indebted to me upon Bond
And I also Give and bequeath unto the said William Robinson the elder and William Robinson the younger all such Interest as they or either of them shall owe or stand indebted unto me at the time of my decease upon or by virtue of such Bond or otherwise howsoever
I Give to Mrs Ann Story who some years since boarded and resided with me at Holwell aforesaid Ten Guineas
All which Legacies I do hereby order and direct shall be paid at the end of six Calendar Months next after my Decease
I Give and Bequeath unto my Cousin Dorothy Bamford ten Guineas to be paid her immediately after my Decease
And I Give and Bequeath unto my Servant Sarah Taylor Ten pounds in case she shall happen to Live with me at the time of my Death and not otherwise over and besides what I shall happen to owe her for wages or otherwise at the time of my Death and to be paid her at the end of one Month next after my Decease
I Give and Bequeath all my wearing apparel of all sorts both Linnen and Woollen unto my said Niece Susannah Wilson and my said Servant Sarah Taylor to be divided between them in such manner as I shall by any memorandum in Writing or by word of Mouth before one or more Witness or Witnesses order or direct and for want of such order or direction then the said to be equally divided between the said Susannah Wilson and the said Sarah Taylor
And I do hereby request order and direct that my Executor hereinafter named shall and do give and deliver so much and such part of my Household Goods and Furniture or other part of my personal Estate and Effects whether Money or any thing else to any person or persons to whom I shall by word of Mouth before one or more Witness or Witnesses or by any Memorandum in Writing order or direct the same to be given or delivered which I may probably do as a mark of my esteem or for their kind assistance and Friendship to me in my Lifetime or during my last Illness
And I Do hereby direct that my Body be Carried in a Hearse and decently interred in the Parish Church of Ab Kettleby in the said County of Leicester in the same Grave with my late dear Father and Mother
And I Give and Bequeath all my ready money and securities for money household Goods and furniture silver plate Linnen Goods Chattels Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever (Save and except my Wearing apparel of all Sorts and also save and except such other part of my Personal Estate and Effects which is by this my will otherwise given or disposed of or which I shall by word of Mouth or some Writing give or dispose of) unto my Great Nephew the Reverend William Cant his Executors administrators and assigns but subject to and he the said William Cant paying thereout all my just Debts the Legacies by this my Will given and bequeathed and my funeral Expences
And Lastly I Do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Great Nephew William Cant Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made
In Witness whereof I the said Ann Hurst the Testatrix have to this my Last Will and Testament set my Hand and Seal the Thirtieth Day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Seventy Five
