In the Name of God Amen I Anne Kirkbie of Claxton als Long Clauson in the County of Leicester Widdow being in health of body and of sound mind and memory (Blessed be God for it) And calling to mind the uncertainty of human life doe make and ordaine this my last Will & Testament in manner & forme following, that is to say
First I give and resigne my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me trusting to be saved by the meritts of the bitter death and passion of Jesus Christ my onely Saviour & Redeemer And my body I commit and commend to the earth to be decently interred
And as for my estate and worldly goods which God hath been pleased to give and lend me, I devise give and bequeath the same as followeth, that is to say
First I doe devise give and bequeath unto the Church of Long Clauson five shillings to buy a bason for the baptizing of children and a page to lay the bread on when the blessed Sacrament is to be administered and these to be for no other use
Item I doe devise give and bequeath unto the children of Margaret Wright and Anne Wright fourty five pounds to be equally divided amongst them
Item I doe devise give and bequeath to Anne Ratcliff of Diseworth my turkey tammy gown
Item I give and bequeath to the poor of Long Clauson six pounds to be distributed at the discretion of the Minister and Church wardens there
Item I give and bequeath to the poor of Saxelbie four pounds to be distributed at the discretion of the Rector and Church Wardens there
Item I give and bequeath to Jacob Pen twenty shillings
Item I give and bequeath to Mr Cross of Loughborow twenty shillings
Item I give and bequeath unto the Executor of Jane or James Kemp twenty shillings
Item I give and bequeath unto two of the youngest children of John Gunthrop five pounds
Item so far as I am concerned I give and bequeath unto Henry Marriott the ten pounds that he should pay for the land given by my husband by his last will but not expressed to whom it should be paid
Item I give and bequeath unto Goody Yebbs daughters five pounds a peece
Item I give and bequeath unto Rebecca Saunderson and her children twelve pounds
Item I give and bequeath unto Michael Hardow five pounds
Item I give and bequeath unto Dorothy Maulston fourty shillings
Item I give and bequeath unto the child of Robert Hubbard that he had by his former wife twenty shillings but if it be dead I give this twenty shillings to Dorothy Maulston
Item I give unto my sister Kirkby twenty shillings
Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Flower five pounds
Item I appoint five pounds to be expended upon my funerall
Item I give and bequeath unto John Reay Vicar of Long Clauson five pounds
Item I give and bequeath unto my loving brother Mr John Kirkbie of Saxelbie all that house and homested and land that I purchased of Edward Moor and Henry Moor, and leased at this present to one Roger Nells, and now in his possession, I say I give to him without any claim to be made by any person by or from me or under me, or any claim to be made by any person whatsoever
Item all the rest of my goods and estate undisposed of I give and bequeath (after my debts paid and funeral expences discharged) to my loving brother Mr John Kirkbie
And lastly I doe hereby constitute ordaine & make John Reay Vicar of Long Clauson my full and sole executor of this my last will and Testament revoking all former Wills & Testaments by me made
In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand & seal this twenty seaventh day of February in the fourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord James the Second by the grace of God King of England Scotland France & Ireland defender of the faith & An Dom 1687
