In the Name of God Amen I John Kirke of Scalford in the Countye of Leister sheepeheard being weake in body but of perfect memory & understanding (praised bee God therefore) doe make & ordaine this my last will & testament in maner & forme following
First I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God hoping to be saved onely by the merits & mediation of his son my Saviour Jesus xt
My body I bequeath unto the earth from whence it was taken decently to be interr’d at the discretion of my Executor hoping for resurrection unto life
And for the worldly estate which God hath lent mee I give & dispose of it as followeth
Imprimis I give & bequeath unto Anne Wallis my kinswoman living at Melton ten pounds of Current English money to bee payed her within one yeare after my decease
Also I give her one of those bease now in the yard which shee shall make choice of
Ite I give & bequeath unto Richard Kirke of Scalford my kinsman eight pounds of Current English money to bee payed within one yeare after my decease
Item I give unto the other daughter of my brother Richard Kirke living at Hallaughton & named Alice five pounds of Current English money to bee payed her within one yeare after my decease
Item I give unto Richard Love [?] of Turlanghton my kinsman twenty shillings of Current English money to bee paied within one yeare after my decease and five shillings more to Joane Ruddle of Langham
Item I give unto Margaret Moore that liveth with mee ten shillings
All the rest of my estate goods cattels or chattels bills bonds & debts dues & demands whatever I give & bequeath the same unto Thomas Burbidge of Scalford who maried my kinswoman desiring him to see my debts payd and my funerall chardges, whom also I doe make Sole Executor of this my last will & testament
