In the name of God Amen The third day of September Anno 1657 I James Levit of Eaton in the Countie of Leic yeoman being weake of body, but of perfect memorie (blessed be God for it) doe make & ordaine this my last will & testament in manner & forme following (vide_
First & above all & bequeath my soule into the hands of Christ Jesus my only saviour & redeemer through whose merits & mediation only I trust to bee saved And my body to be buryed at the discretion of my executor
And as for those worldly goods which the Lord hath lent mee I dispose in manner & forme following
Inprimis I doe give unto my sonne William Levit twentie pounds to bee paied to him or to his assigne with in fower yeares next after my decease
Item I doe give unto my daughter Jane Winge tenn pounds to bee paied unto hir within one yeare after my decease
Item I doe give unto my sonne Richard Levit six pence & the reason why I doe give him no more is because he hath had his portion before
Item I doe give unto Steven Clarke & Ann his wife sixe pence apeece & no more because they have had their portions already
Item I doe give unto my sonne James Levit & Isabell his wife six pence apeece & no more because they also have had there portions before
All which legaties of six pence apeece my will is they bee payed within one twelvemoneth next after my decease being lawfully demanded
Item I doe give unto my wife Jane Levit twentie pounds to bee paied unto hir within one twelvemoneth after she shall thinke good to depart & goe away from my executor John Levit
All the rest of my goods cattell or chatells whatsoever unbequeathed I do give unto my sonne John Levit whom I doe make sole executor of this my last will and testament hee maintaining his mother Jane Levit with sufficient meate drinke clothes & lodging with all such other necessaries fiting for a weoman of hir ranke & fashion, soe long as she shall thinke good to live within as alsoe to pay my debts & discharge my funeral expences
