In the name of god Amen I Robert Mathewes of the towne of Claxton in the Countie of Leceister Laborer This first daye of Januarye in the years of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lorde James by the grace of god of Englande, France & Ireland Kinge defender of the faith &c the thirteenth of Scotlane 45th Beinge sicke of bodie but of good & perfect memory, praysed be god, doe make & ordayne this my last will & testament in maner followeinge
Imprimis I give & bequeave my soule to god that gave it & my bodie to bee buried in church yarde of Claxton afoesaied
Itim I give unto my sonne Ro: Mathewes xiid
Itim I give unto my daughter Marye Dubbledaye xiid
Itim I give unto my daughter Isabell Wilkinson xiid
Itim I give unto my sonne Richarde Mathewes xiid
The rest of all my goods and Chattells, moveable & unmoveable unbequeaved, I give & bequeave unto my loveinge wife Marye Mathewes, and to my daughter Johne Mathewes, whome I make ioyntly Executors of this my last will & testament, to see my saied will performed, & my foresaied Legacies & debts payed, and my bodie reverently brought to the ground
Lastly I make & ordayne my landlorde Robert Hicklinge & John Wright of Claxton aforesayed yeomen overseers of this my last will & testament
