Mary Moulton of Holwell 1747 Will

In the name of God Amen I Mary Moulton of Holwell in the County of Leicester Widow being Sick and Weak of body but of Sound and perfect Mind and Understanding praised be almighty God for the Same Do and Make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in Manner and form following (that is to say)
First I recommend my Soul into the hands of almighty God my Creator and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix herein after named
And as for such temporal estate which it hath pleased almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose of the same as followeth (that is to say)
I give and bequeath unto my Grand Children William Griffin Ann Griffin Sarah Griffin Rachel Griffin and Lucy Griffin Children of my Daughter Ann Griffin the Sum of twenty pounds apiece to be paid to them respectively with the Interest and improvement thereof when and as they shall attain their respective ages of one and Twenty years And if it so happen that any of my aforesaid Grand Children William Griffin Ann Griffin Sarah Griffin Rachel Griffin and Lucy Griffin Shall depart this life before they shall Attain their Said respective ages of one and twenty years Then it is my express will and intent the Legacy or portion of Such of them so dying shall go and be paid unto the Survivour or Survivours of them yet nevertheless if it so happen that there shall be any loss by the failing of any Security that shall be taken for any part of the said Money which shall at any time be placed out at Interest and give as aforesaid Unto my said Grand Children Then I will that the same shall not be the loss of my executrix but that such loss shall be borne by my said Grand Children equally
Also I give unto Grandaughter Elizabeth Hoe the Sum of forty pounds to be paid to her with the Interest and improvement thereof when she shall attain her full age of one and twenty years
Also I give and bequeath unto my two Grand Children Charles Moulton Hoe and Mary Hoe the sum of twenty pounds apiece to be paid to them respectively with the Interest and improvement thereof when and as they shall attain their said ages of one and twenty years
And if it so happen that any of my said Grand Children Elizabeth Hoe Charles Moulton Hoe and Mary Hoe shall Depart this life before they shall attain their said respectively ages of one and twenty years Then it is my express Will and Mind that the Legacy or portion of him or her so dying shall go and be paid to the Survivour or Survivours of them yet nevertheless if it so happen that any of the said Money so given Unto my said Grand Children Elizabeth Hoe Charles Moulton Hoe and Mary Hoe shall be lost by the failing of any Security that shall at any time hereafter be taken for the same That such loss shall be born by my said Grand Children Elizabeth Hoe Charles Moulton Hoe and Mary Hoe proportionably according to their said respective Legacies given to them as aforesaid And that such loss if any happen to be shall not be loss of my executrix hereinafter named
Also I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Hoe the annual sum of five and forty shillings for the Term of fifteen years to Commence from the day of my Death And I will that the same shall be for her separate and private use and benefitt and wherewith her present or any after taken husband shall no wayes intermedle nor shall the same be any ways liable to his Debts forfeitures or engagements but that the receipt of my said daughter Elizabeth shall notwithstanding her Coverture be Sufficient to my executrix for the Same yet nevertheless I will that in Case my said daughter Elizabeth shall at any time within the said Term of fifteen years depart this life Then it is my express Will and Mind that my said executrix shall pay the said Annual Sum of five and forty shillings unto my said Grand Children Elizabeth Hoe Charles Moulton Hoe and Mary Hoe divided amongst them equally
Also I give and bequeath unto my Son in law William Hoe One Shilling
Also I give and bequeath unto my Son in law William Griffin One Shilling
Also I give and bequeath all the household Goods which is my own property unto my two Daughters Ann Griffin and Elizabeth Hoe to be equally divided between them Share and Share alike
Provided always nevertheless and my Will and Mind is that the said Legacies herein before Menconed to be given to all my said Grand Children as aforesaid shall begin to Carry Interest for their benefitt from the feast of the annuniacon of the blessed Virgin Mary which shall first and next happen after my Death
Also all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Goods Cattle Chattles and personal estate of what kind or nature soever the same is my Debts Legacies and funeral expences being first thereout paid and discharged I give and bequeath the same unto my said Daughter Ann Griffin whom I hereby appoint full and Sole executrix of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made declaring this to be my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I the said Mary Moulton the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seale this Eight and twentieth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and forty six
