This is the last Will and Testament of me William Pickard of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Farmer
I give and devise all those my two closes of Land containing five acres or thereabout situate at Frisby on the Wreake in the said County of Leicester to my Son William his heirs and assigns for ever and I give to my said Son William my bureau
I give and devise all the remainder of my Real Estate of which I shall die possessed unto my Wife Letitia during such part of her life as she shall continue my Widow for the benefit of herself and the maintenance education and bringing up of my younger children and in case my said Wife should marry again I give to her a Legacy of Fifty Pounds and I direct that her life interest in my Residuary Real Estate shall thereupon cease
And from and after the death or second Marriage of my said Wife (whichever shall first happen) I give and devise all that my House with its appurtenances situate at Frisby on the Wreake aforesaid in the occupation of Mr Binks And Also all my Closes of Land containing Eight acres or thereabouts with the appurtenances thereto situate at Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester to Joseph Paddison of Melton Mowbray Solicitor and my Son Joe Dexter Pickard (hereinafter called my Trustees) and to their heirs and assigns upon trust that they my Trustees or the survivor of them or the heirs executors or administrators of such survivor shall sell the same by Public auction or Private Contract or together or in parcels subject to such special or other Conditions of Sale as may be thought prudent and shall stand possessed of the net monies arising from such sale In trust for such of my five Daughters, Hannah, Mary Ann, Jane Ellen, Sarah and Fanny as shall live to attain the age of twenty one years or marry under that age in equal shares as tenants in common Provided always and I do hereby direct that the last mentioned monies shall not be paid and divided until my daughter Fanny (or in case of her death my youngest child for the time being) shall attain the age of twenty one years and that in the meantime and until the same monies are paid and divided my Trustees shall (after the death or second marriage of my Wife) pay and apply the rents and income of my Real estate devised to them until it is sold and afterwards the income to arise from the monies produced by the Sale thereof to and for the maintenance education and bringing up of such of my younger daughters as shall require it in such shares and proportions manner and form as to my Trustees shall seem best
I declare that my Trustees may postpone the Sale of my said real estate for so long as they shall see fit
I empower my Trustees after the death or second marriage of my said Wife to raise any portion (not exceeding one half) of the then expectant presumptive or vested share of any of my said five daughters under the trusts hereinbefore contained and apply the same for her advancement or benefit
After the death or second marriage of my said Wife I give all my five Houses and two acres of Land and all other my Real Estate at Wartnaby in the County of Leicester to my two Sons Arthur Henry Pickard and John Glenn Pickard and their respective heirs and assigns for ever to be held by them as Tenants in common and not as joint Tenants And in case of the death of one of them under the age of twenty one years I give and devise the undivided moiety of him so dying to the survivor of them his heirs and assigns for ever
I give and bequeath all my furniture Plate Linen and other household effects (except my said bureau) to my said Wife absolutely
I give and bequeath all my live and dead farming stock crops money and all other my Personal Estate not hereinbefore disposed of (hereinafter called my residuary Personal Estate) to my said Wife during such part of her life as she shall continue my Widow during which time I direct that she shall be at liberty to carry on my Farming business and to use and employ my residuary Personal estate in such manner as she shall think best and most advantageous and from and after her death or marriage again (whichever shall first happen) I give and bequeath all my Residuary Personal estate of whatsoever the same may then consist and the accumulations thereof to my Son Joe Dexter Pickard his executors administrators and assigns subject nevertheless to the payment thereout of a Legacy of Fifty pounds which I hereby give and bequeath to Maria Dexter otherwise Pickard to be paid at the expiration of three months from the death or marriage of my said Wife and subject also to the payment of the said Legacy of Fifty pounds to my said Wife in case she marries again and it becomes payment
I direct that my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts shall be paid by my said Wife out of my residuary Personal Estate hereby bequeathed to her during her Widowhood
In case my said Sons Arthur Henry and John Glenn or either of them shall be under the age of twenty one years at the time they or he will become entitled in possession to the Real Estate hereby devised to them I direct that then and in such case my Trustees shall let and manage the same real estate and pay an apply the rents and profit thereof to or for the maintenance education and bringing up or otherwise for the benefit of my same Sons in such manner as my Trustees shall think fit
I declare that the expression “my Trustees” Used in this my Will shall mean and include the said Joseph Paddison and Joe Dexter Pickard and the survivor of them and the Trustees or Trustee for the time being of this my Will
I devise all estates vested in me upon any trust or by way of Mortgage to the said Joseph Paddison and Joe Dexter Pickard their heirs and assigns subject to the trusts and equities affecting the same respectively And I appoint my said Wife Letitia Pickard sole Executor of this my Will and Guardian of my infant Children

Proved at Leicester the Seventeenth day of March 1874 by the Oath of Letitia Pickard Widow the Relict of the deceased the Sole Executrix to whom Administration was granted
The Testator William Pickard was late of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Farmer and died on the twenty eighth day of January 1874 at Long Clawson aforesaid
