Anthony Rodgers of Eaton 1665 Will and Inventory

In the name of God Amen The seventh day of May in the seventeenth year of the Raign of our most gratious Soveraign Lord Charles the second by the Grace of God King of England, Scotland, France, and Ireland defender of the faith &c Annoq dni 1665, I Anthony Rogers of Eaton in the County of Leic yeoman being sick and weak of bodie but of sound and perfect memory (praised be God) doe make this my last will and testament in manner and form following, That is to say
First I comend my Soul to Almighty God my Creator assuredly believing that I shall recieve full pardon and free remission of all my Sins, and bee saved by the pretious death and meritts of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ
And my bodie to the Earth from whence it was taken to bee buryed in such decent and Christian manner as to my Executrix hereafter named shalbee thought meet and convenient
And as touching such worldly estate as the Lord in mercy hath Lent mee my Will and meaning is that the same shalbee employed and bestowed as hereafter by this my will is expressed
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Son Anthony Rogers the sume of Five pounds of Current money of England yearly and every year to bee raised out my Lands Tyths and Tenements with thappurtenances in Eaton aforesaid in the said County of Leicester until hee shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares To bee paid unto him by my Executrix at the age of One and twenty yeares And my said Executrix to make use of it untill my said son bee of full age
Also I give unto said son Anthony Rogers all my houses, Lands, Tyths, and Tenements in Eaton aforesaid with their and every of their Rights, members and appurtenances (after my debts and legacyes are discharged) To him his heires and Assignes for ever
And if my said son Anthony Rogers happen to dye before hee come of age my will is that then my wife Elizabeth Rogers shall have the moitie or half part of all my said Reall Estate in Eaton aforesaid during her natural life
Also wheras Charles Gelsthorp did bequeath the Sume of five poundes in his last will to be paid unto Mary Paybodie my Mother if she survive her husband my will and mind is that my said Mother Mary Paybodie and James Rogers My Brother shall have the yearly sume of four poundes to bee equally divided paid unto them during the nonage of my said Sonne Anthony Rogers out of my said Lands and Tythes in Eaton aforesaid in Leiu and stead of the said five pounds soe bequeathed by the said Charles Gelsthorpe unto my said Mother
Also I give and bequeath unto my said Brother James Rogers the Sume of Twenty poundes to bee paid out of my Reall or personall estate as soon as my debts are discharged
Also my will and mind is that wheras I am indebted unto divers persons and particularly unto Edward Ward gent in a Statute bond of One hundred pounds prinicpall debts That the said legacy of Twenty poundes and the said five poundes and four poundes a year above bequeathed to my Son, Mother and Brother shall cease untill my debts are paid
And all my estate, Reall and personall (a convenient maintenance for my wife and son excepted) shall be disposed of by my Executrix and such others as I shall hereafter appoint to and for the payment of my debts, And then the said Legacyes to bee paid as is above expressed and declared
Also wheras I owe and stand indebted by bond to my said mother Mary Paybodie to pay her the sume of one pounds and sixteen shillings yearly during her natural life my will and mind is that my Executrix shall pay out of my said Reall Estate the said One pounds and sixteen shillings unto my said Mother Mary Paybodie during her natural life provided she deliver her bond or bonds to my said Executrix
Also I give unto the poor of Eaton ten shillings to bee distributed by my Executrix
Also I doe hereby make, constitute, and appoint my dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Rogers the Sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament and doe revoke all former and other Wills by mee made, And doe appoint Willm Gelsthorpe of Whatton in the County of Nottingham gent and George Widdowson of Gunnalston in the said County of Nottingham yeoman the Supravisors of this my last will and Testament humbly desireing them to bee assisting unto my said Executrix in the Management of my estate and to make use of it together with her untill my debts are paid
Also my will is that my wife give bond unto my Cosen Willm Gelsthorpe of fourty poundes with Condicon to deliver my writings unto my said Son when hee shall come to the age or unto the next Heire if my son happen to dye within age And she to deliver a note or schedule of them unto my said Cosen Gelsthorpe
It I give unto my said Cosen Gelsthorpe and his wife and unto my Brother George Widdowson and his wife to every of them five shillings a peice to buy them gloves, And doe desire them to pay themselves out of my estate what charges they are or shalbee at in assisting of my said wife in the management of my estate
