In the name of Gd Amen I Bartholomew Shelton of Scalford in the County of Leicester Weaver being weak in body but of sound mind & perfect memory praised be Gd do make my last Will & Testament in manner following
Imprimis my Soul I commend into the hands of Jesus Xt my Savour & Redeemer firmly hoping through his alone merits & mediation to be partaker of the Inheritance of the Saints above & my body I committ to the ground to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors
Item I give & devise to my Wife Mary & Francis Shelton my Son that house & land wch I am now possessd of with all appurtenances situate lying & being in Scalford to be equally held & enjoy’d by them & after the decease of my Wife Mary I give the aforesaid house & land wholly to my Son Francis Shelton & his heirs but in case my Son Francis have no children lawfully begotten then my Will is that the aforementioned house & land be given after his decease to my six Grandchildren to be equally divided amongst them
Item I give all my goods chattells cattle & personal estate whatsoever to my Wife Mary Shelton
Item I give my six Grandchildren at Chadwell twenty pounds to be equally divided among them & payd by my Son Francis Shelton after my wife’s decease & if any of they my Grandchildren happen to die before the Legacy becomes due then my will is that the aforementioned sum of twenty pounds be paid to the surviving children
Item I make my wife Mary & Francis Shelton my son joynt Executors of this my last Will hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made
