In the name of god Amen the twenteth daye of January in the yeare 1653 [1653/4] I John Shelton of Scallford in the County of Lecester laborer sick in body but sound in perfect mind and memory thankes be to god I doe make this my last will and testement in maner and forme following
First I Commend my Soule in to the hands of god my Creator and maker and to his Sonne Jessus Christ my onely saviour and Redemer, And my body to the earth from whence itt Caime
Item I give unto my Sonne John Shelton the one halfe of my howse and Comond and paster in the towne and feillde of Scalford soe Loung as my wife Ann doath live and my wife Ann to have the other halfe of the howse and paster and Commond soe Loung as shee doath live exseptin one baye of the barne one the oft end and the grownd from William Chesters wall the breath of the barnes walls
Item I give unto my sonne Thomas Shelton the aforesaid baye of the barne and the ground from the barne wall to Chesters wall the breadth of the barne walls for Ever
Item I give to my Sonne John Shelton fower of my best sheepe
Item I give to my sonne Thomas Shellton Thirteene pounds in mony to be paid with in tow yeares after my desseace or death
Item I give to my sonne Bartholomew Shellton sixteene pounds in mony to be paid with in five yeares after my desseace or death
Item I give to my wife Ann all the Rest of my good and Chattells and halfe the house Commond and paster equeley devided soe loung as itt shall please god shee shall Live and I doe make this my Last will and My wife Ann Sole and full exsector of this my Last Will and testament
