In the name of God amen I John Stokes of Wartnaby in the County of Leicester Yeom: being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and understanding praised be Almighty God for the same doe make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following that is to say

Impris I comend my Soul into the hands of almighty God who gave it my and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named and as for my temporal estate which it hath pleased God to bless me withall I give and dispose thereof as followes (vizt)

I give and devise all my Lands Tenements and hereditaments whatsoever with their and every of their appurtenances situate lying & being within the Town fields libties territories and precincts of Wartnaby aforesaid in the said County of Leic: unto my son William Stokes and to his heirs and assignes forever

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Stokes the sum of Twenty pounds to be paid within twelve months next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my son John Stokes the sum of forty pounds to be paid to him within twelve months next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Christopher Stokes the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid to him within twelve months next after my decease and my will and mind is that if it shall happen that my said son Christopher shall be sick or lame before he shall be married Then I will that my said son William Stokes shall find and provide for him habitation during such Sickness or Disaster or else permitt and sufer him to cohabit or dwell with him during such Illness without paying or making him my said son William Stokes any satisfaccon for the same

Item all the rest of my Goods Cattle Chattells and personall Estate whatsoever my debts legacies and funeral expences being first paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto my dear and loving wife Elizabeth Stokes and to my said Son William Stokes whom I hereby nominate and appoint Joynt Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made declaring this to be my last Will and Testament

In witness whereof I the said John Stokes the Testator have hereunto sett my hand and seale this fourth day of September in the ninth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith Annoq Dmi 1722
