In the name of God Amen I Margrett Thorne of Nether Broughton in the Countie [of Leicester widow] being sick in body but of good & perfect mind & memory thankes be given [to Almighty God therefore] doe make & ordayne this my last will & testament in forme following That [is to say
Imprimis I commend] my soule into the hands of Allmighty God my heavenly father my body I Committ […] resurrecon the buriall whereof I will to be such as becometh a Christian Woman […] reserving the same to the discrecon of my Executrix hereunder named, And as for […] all & singular such lands tenements goods & Chattels which the Lord hath bene pleased to bestowe [upon me in this] present world I doe give devise & bequeath the same in forme following That is to say
First I give & bequeath unto my daughter Ann Rawson the wife of Gregory Rawson All that Messuage Cottage or tenement with thappurenances situate in Nether Broughton aforesaid wherein I the said Margarett Thorne doe now dwell with Common of pasture for five Cowes or great beasts to be had & taken in & upon the Comon enclosed Cow pasture of Nether Broughton aforesaid to the said Messuage Cottage or tenement belonging And all that other Cottage or tenement with thappurtenances in Nether Broughton aforesaid now in the occupacon of Ann Clarke widowe And all houses … yards orchards gardens backside toft Crofts Closes & other profitts & appurtenances unto the said Messuage Cottage or tenement belonging to have & to hold the said Messuage Cottage or tenement & all & singular other the premisses with thappurtenances unto her the said Ann Rawson her heirs & assignes for ever to the intent the same Messuage Cottage or tenement shalbe … for the better maintenance of the said Ann Rawson & for the payment of such legacies as are hereafter by these presents given & bequeathed
Also I give & bequeath unto my kinsman Robert Perry the some of Twelve pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid unto him within two yeers next after my decease
Also I give & bequeath unto the said Robert Perry one bedstead in the Chamber two paire of the strongest flaxen sheets one paire of pillowbeers & the trunk wherein … sheets are the best two blankets the best woollen Coverlett one new boulster, the feather bed which lyeth upon his own bed & a pillow
Also I give & bequeath unto every of the Children of my daughter Mason deceased the some of foure pounds a peece of like lawfull money to be paid unto them within two yeers next after my decease, which my will & mind is shalbe putt forward for the best benefitt of the same Children
Also I give & bequeath unto William Wilkins & Mary Wilkins the sonne & Daughter of my daughter Elizabeth Wilkins deceased the like some of foure pounds a peece of like lawfull money to be paid unto them within two yeeres next after my decease & likewise to be putt forward for the best benefitt of the said William Wilkins & Mary Wilkins
Also I give & bequeath unto every of the Children of my said Daughter Ann Rawson the like some of foure pounds a peece of like lawfull money to be paid unto them within two yeeres next after my decease & likewise to be putt forward for the best benefitt of the same children
Also I give & bequeath unto the poor of Nether Broughton aforesaid the sume of six shillings & eight pence
All the rest & residewe of my goods Chattells & estate whatsoever my debtts paid & funerall discharged I give & bequeath unto my said Daughter Ann Rawson whom I name ordayne & appoint to be the onely Executrix of this my last will & testament, Revokeing hereby all former last will & testament
In witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale the Tenth day of January in the yeer of our Lord one thousand six hundred threescore & two
Also my will & mind is that the above named Ann Clark shall have the Cottage with thappurtenances wherein she now dwelleth during her life at the Rent of three shillings by the yeere & I also give her ten shillings to be paid within two yeeres next after my decease
