In the name of god Amen In the xxv day of March and in the yeare of our Lorde god 1596 I William Wotkin of Neather Broughton in the countie of Leicester husbandman weake in bodie but hole in mynde laude and praise be unto allmightie god doe ordaine and make this my last will and testament in maner and forme followinge
Fyrst I commyte my soule to allmightie god my onely maker and redemer trusting in his inestimable mercye that hee will for his sonne Chryst Jesus sake accept me as a lyvelye member of his bodye and amongst the number of his elect chilldren
As for my bodie I commete it to the grounde from whence it came trusting that he will rayse it up againe at the last day a mortall bodye as it is now but that he will make it Lyke unto the glorious bodie of my onely Lorde and Saviour Christ Jesus
Imprimis I gyve and bequeath to the poore mens boxe of Nether Broughton xiid
Item I will that my wyfe shall have my house whearin now she dewlleth so long as she lyveth with all the comodities within the towne and feildes of Nether Broughton
Also yf it please god my wyfe to depart that my sonne William Wotkin shall have the howse whearin Jhon Bennett now dwelleth with the whome close and a other close called the white wong and one yard land with all the commodities belonging to the same xxi yeares after my decease paying xv shillings rent yearly
