In the name of God Amen I John Wells of Scalford in the County of Leicester Farmer being Sick and weak but of Sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament
Imprimis I most humbly bequeath my soul to God my Maker beseeching his most Gracious acceptance of it through the sufficient Merits and mediations of my most compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ who gave himself to be an Attonement for my Sins and is able and willing to save all those who come unto God through him and my Body to the earth to be buried in a deasent Christen like manner at the expence of my Executrix hereafter mentioned
I give and bequeath unto my Brother Matthias Wells of Kettelby in the County of Leicester Farmer as Trustee and Guardian for my Wife and Children all my Moneys Securities for moneys Goods Chattles and personal Estate of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever upon the trusts nevertheless and to and for the Several uses Intents and purposes hereinafter mentioned expressed and declared of and concerning the same respectively to be by him ordered in manner following
First I give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved Wife Dorothy Wells whome I constitute and Appoint my sole Executrix of all my personal estate of what kind soever or wheresoever so long as she lives or so long as She remains my Widow but if she marries again then all to be devided into eaqual parts between her and all my Children share and share alike but if she does not marry after her decease to all my Children share and share alike only if my son George comes home and works to help to bring up the younger children then to have two parts or shares in lue of one and my will and mind is that they all be under the derection of my brother Matthias Wells whom I apoint trustee
In wittness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal this 12th day of July 1788

Let a probat be made to Dorothy Wells the sole Executrix within named She being duly sworn as well to the faithful Execution of the Will as that the Testator’s Goods, Chattels and Credits do not amount in value to the sum of One hundred pounds
