In the name of God Amen I Francis Whittle of Stathern Husbandman being Sick in Body but of Sound and perfect mind and memory Praise be therefore given to Almighty God do make and ordain this my present last Will & Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First and principally I Commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God hoping through the merits Death and Passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free Pardon and Forgiveness of all my Sins and to inherit everlasting Life And my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently Buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as touching the disposition of all Such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth
First I will that my Debts and Funeral Charges Shall be paid and discharged
I Give to my Son Robert Whittle the Sum of five Shillings
Item I Give to my Daughter Catharine the Wife of Richard Brearley the Sum of five Pounds to be paid within one year after my Death
Item I Give to my Grandson John Brearley the Sum of five Pounds to be paid when he attains the full age of twenty three years
Item I Give to my Grandson Francis Whittle the Sum of five Pounds when he attains the full age of 21 years
All the rest and residue of my Personal Estate Goods and Chattels whatsoever I do Give and bequeath to my Son James Whittle full and Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament
And I do hereby revoke disannul and make void all former Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made
In witness whereof I the Said Francis Whittle to this my Last will and Testament have set to my hand and Seal this tenth day of March in the year of our Lord God 1717/8
